. . . of Oakdale Christian Academy is one of courage, perseverance and dedication to serving students in need.

It was founded in 1921 as a mission school of the Free Methodist Church. Attending Oakdale back then was "roughing it," with few modern conveniences. There wasn't even a road to the school! Oakdale then mostly served young people in the isolated mountains of eastern Kentucky who had no other local school.

Today Oakdale is a school for teenagers from the local community and across the U.S. and abroad, who come for many good reasons, including a great education.

Located in the beauty of the mountains, this unique school enjoys the type of solitude that encourages focus. Focus on things that matter. On learning. On relationships. On self-discipline. On God and His eternal truth.

You may as well hear it straight: we have expectations for you, and you will have homework that will make you put forth a real effort. We offer a full range of junior high and senior high courses, with many electives (foreign language, typing, computer science, home economics, industrial arts) and non-traditional educational opportunities (job training, Big Buddies program, choir, puppet ministry). Oakdale students consistently score above the national average on standardized tests. Seventy-five percent of graduates attend college within two years of graduation. It’s no wonder we have a great academic program...there’s one staff member for every three students.

We come out of the old school of education and character. Any more, that makes us unique. And it will make you a better person. Your daily life will be carefully designed to develop personal discipline, a Christian work ethic, and thoughtful relationships.
